About

Bridgwater Sea Cadets &

our Venue

Started in 1964, Bridgwater Sea Cadets, or TS Blake as it is also known, is part of the Sea Cadets which is a National Youth Charity offering a different kind of adventure for 10 to 18 year olds. Cadets learn life skills like leadership and team working through nautical adventure activities, and can earn extra qualifications which give young people a head start in life.

The unit is highly successful with a strong and committed staff of highly qualified and experienced volunteers. Named for the locally-born Admiral, who fought on behalf of the Parliamentarians during the English Civil War. The unit maintains strong links with its local heritage and is proud to be one of the largest charitable organisations providing activities for the young people of Bridgwater and the surrounding area.

As an independent charity, the unit has to raise funds each year not just to pay for utilities and building related expenses, but also for the upkeep of key resources such as boats and the training materials required by the cadets. As a physically large unit which has undergone a significant refurbishment in recent years, the building is available to hire to not only provide a much needed income for the unit, but also to provide a space within the community for everyone to come together for a variety of private and business functions.
